Hi there,
It’s been a while. Looking back on my last post in late January I’m forced to admit that I’m really not a keen blogger, obviously! I do like to stay in touch with my loyal clients though and blogging is a good way to do that. So here I am, finally putting my fingers to the keyboard in an attempt to update you on what’s been going on this year.
Back in January I was busy decluttering and downsizing with the idea in mind that I might take my tarot on the road. Well, that’s what I did.
The Queensland Outback
In mid-March I left the hustle and bustle of city life in Brisbane and hit the road. I had a loose plan to go to Broome via Darwin and took off into the wide open red dirt plains of outback Queensland. Wow, Australia is a big country! I knew that in theory but crossing the Great Dividing Range and experiencing it in real life was/is incredible. If you haven’t been to the outback, I urge you to go. It’s stunningly beautiful, huge, teeming with life, just amazing. And the night skies, oh my, you really get to see the Milky Way in all it’s glory!
Of course my ideas didn’t go quite how I planned. Flooded roads prevented me from leaving Queensland but a fortuitous series of coincidences led me to the vibrant little town of Winton in outback Queensland. I found a job straight up – perfect for covering my living expenses, and connected with a small, awesome group of hugely talented women doing amazing things.
The Crackup Sisters
These gals, The Crackup Sisters became my family. I’ve no doubt, no matter where we go, alone or together, our connection will always remain strong. I set up my tarot readings at the Crackup house. I worked in the Crackup Yard and we supported each through the thick and thin of things, making magic happen. Six months of festivals, tourists, hot dry days and cold starry nights passed in the blink of an eye.
Cowgirl hats, flared jeans and boots became a standard part of my wardrobe. I found an embroiderer and got almost all my shirts embroidered with my business logo. I read tarot cards for tourists and locals in a cute little caravan in the Crackup house backyard. In my time off I built up my online and sms readings and grew my social media following.
My Crackup family helped me promote my business and I helped them promote theirs. It’s a good pairing and one I’m sorry to leave. But all good things must come to end and now the season is over, it’s getting really hot in Winton and the road is calling me.
A New Chariot
Some time during all my Winton activities my faithful little red car had a major meltdown. I had the choice of a big repair bill or to break into my savings and upgrade my ride. I chose a new chariot. Little red went to a used car lot and I miss her, but I’m now the proud owner of a new vehicle much more suited to outback roads and long journeys.
As I sit here writing this blog my silver siren is on her way to me. In a couple of weeks we will be cruising out of town and heading back to the big smoke. Our stay in Brisbane is gazetted to be short but important. I’ve a few things to sort out, IT equipment and camping gear to upgrade, and family and friends to visit.
The Next Chapter
My travel plans are loose but I hope will include an easy drive down the coast of New South Wales and a wander through the Snowy Mountains and Victorian highlands to Adelaide. From there I plan to cross the Nullarbor and perhaps settle in Margaret River WA for a time. Will this plan come to fruition? Who knows? It’s appealing and possible and I’m willing to give it a go. I will keep reading tarot along the way and will document my travels via instagram as I’m want to do.
Having gained some experience road tripping and making a life in a new place where I don’t know a soul, I’m now pretty confident that whatever happens everything will work out just fine. I know that going with the flow always leads to what I need. I know that I will find work if I need it. New faces will become wonderful friends and strange places will provide me with a life and stories that fill my heart and soul. Tarot reading will remain a mainstay throughout it all. It’s what I do. It’s my passion and my contribution to helping humans live fulfilling lives in this world. I’ll let you know how it all turns out in my next blog. Until then follow me on social media to get more detail about what unfolds on my digital nomad journey.
Big love, Terri
